The story of the project began in early 2010 when local tourism experts visited Ban Doi village. As they marvelled at its natural beauty and got to know the families here, they immediately recognized the potential for great ecotourism. The deeply rooted ethnic cultures, the natural hospitality of people, the verdant tea hills, the misty valleys, pastoral farming scenes, winding rural roads… they saw a long list of great reasons to implement exciting tourism choices that could enrich the lives of both guests and hosts. From the very beginning the project's vision in opening this new destination relied heavily on the involvement of local people. Objective is to promote sustainable economic development and build local people's capacity through initial co-management with the eventual goal of turning the guesthouse project over to them.
